EquStem™ to be featured Saturday on "Down the Stretch" radio show.

HACKENSACK, NJ - EquStem, the first equine cord blood and stem cell processing center in the United States will be a featured guest on the leading Sirius Thoroughbred radio show “Down the Stretch” Saturday, March 27 at 11 a.m. EST. Damian Todd, Director of Operations, and Dr. Mark Sorrentino, Medical Director, will be interviewed by co-hosts Dave Johnson and Bill Finley about EquStem’s™ advancements in stem cell collection and storage for horses. “Down the Stretch” airs on Sirius satellite radio Channel 126 and XM satellite radio Channel 243.

In the new era of medical advancements with stem cells, EquStem™, the first commercial equine umbilical cord stem cell collection, processing and storage company in the United States, has launched its noninvasive procedure for collecting stem cells from horses. The process is simple and safe, extracting regenerative adult stem cells from the umbilical cord on foaling day to be stored for future medical and therapeutic use.

Stem cell research has turned into a modern-day phenomenon and has been attributed to the recovery of many horses with career threatening injuries. Collecting and storing stem cells is a practice that allows for potential healing of future injuries to soft tissue, such as tendons, ligaments and joints. Stem cells have also been used to successfully treat fractures and laminitis. These stem cells which are collected have the ability to differentiate into cell lines that can be used to regenerate damaged soft tissue.

The EquStem™ staff trains veterinarian or the horse caretaker how to retrieve the stem cells on foaling day, then processes, tests, stores, prepares and supplies the regenerative adult stem cells for medical usage in the event of injury. Thousands of horses have already been treated with adult stem cells through numerous successful transplants documented around the world. According to EquineSite.com, 78% of sport horses treated with adult stem cells have returned to their previous level of performance, and 69% of racehorses treated have returned to make multiple starts in races.

EquStem is headquartered in Hackensack, NJ with laboratories in Allendale, NJ.  EquStem is a proud marketing partner and member of the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association (TOBA).
